“Sensory Futurescape“ is a 3D animation project created using Blender, designed to explore and imagine the future of multisensory experiences. This video shows a world where sensory interaction and perception are amplified and transformed by future technologies and innovations.

Narrative

The video starts with balls rolling across the screen, each symbolizing a different type of sensory input that we encounter in everyday life. As more balls join in, they add layers to the sensory narrative, symbolizing the complexity of our future sensory interactions.

Next, these balls begin to hit a variety of colorful buttons—metaphors for different sensory stimuli like sight, sound, touch, etc. Each interaction leads to the creation of different objects, demonstrating the dynamic nature of sensory perception and the range of responses it can evoke.

The video then showcases a series of unique and weird-looking objects. Each object is the result of the balls interacting with the buttons, representing the diversity and vast potential of future sensory experiences. The varying shapes and colors of these objects symbolize what our sensory world might become.

Towards the end of the video, the camera shows all of the objects standing, looking like a futuristic cityscape that emerges from the integrated sensory experiences. This final scene is a metaphor for my aspiration to positively impact future societies through meaningful, sensory-integrated design. I envision a world where design is not just about aesthetics or functionality, but about creating experiences that resonate with our senses, shaping a future that is not only technologically advanced but also deeply connected to the human experience.

Reflections

Focusing on 3D tools, I immediately dived into this project, giving myself a two-week timeframe. My goal was to use these tools to bring my interest in human sensory and multisensory experiences to life. This tight schedule meant I had to quickly figure out how to balance my ideas with the limited time I had. I decided to go for an abstract style, which really helped me visually express these concepts. This project allowed me to learn my Blender skills and how to creatively visualize my ideas within a short timeframe.
